We hope this email finds you well as we approach the last teaching week before the mid-term break. We are sending out this email to our members with updates about our upcoming Regional Roadshow workshops across the country after the mid-term break, a recap of our recent Teachmeet, the launch of our PEAI Updates WhatsApp Channel, and also the news of us reaching in the significant milestone of getting our Charity Status registration approved.
Upcoming PEAI Regional Roadshow: “Enhancing Learning through Video” 24-26 February 2026
The PEAI are organising Regional Roadshow Workshops (free of charge) throughout Ireland after the mid-term break from Tuesday 24th February to Thursday 26th February. These workshops will provide guidance on utilising video recording of performances to support student learning, assessment and feedback in various scenarios across JCPE, SCPE and LCPE. This workshop will provide guidance on app/platform selection, managing digital workflows and building student learning portfolios. Attendees will practically experience effective capturing of performance in the context of several physical activities. See our poster for the range of venues, dates and times.
**Please bring a charged device to the workshop to record performances and analyse footage.

You will note that the Midlands and Galway workshops are still to be confirmed due to the challenges of securing a PE hall that a school can make their hall available after school hours for external organisations. As soon as we confirm the locations, dates and times for these two workshops we will update the booking form and share this news across our social media and our new PEAI Updates WhatsApp channel.

Recent PEAI Online Teachmeet – Tuesday 3rd February 2026
This week we held our first PEAI Online Teachmeet to provide a relaxed, collaborative space for PE teachers to share practical ideas, classroom resources, and teaching strategies. We were fortunate to have 5 PE teachers contribute across 4 topics from bringing theory into practice across all curricula; tips and tricks for engaging LCPE lessons; diversity, culture and inclusion in the PE classroom and finally multi-use activities/warm-up games for PE lessons. Videos from contributors provided the stimulus for discussions and sharing of ideas around each topic both in small groups within breakout groups, and as a whole group. After the very positive feedback received on the value of this support for our members, it is definitely something we will look to build on when planning future professional learning experiences. For anyone who couldn’t make it online on Tuesday, we used the PEAI Teachmeet padlet to guide our discussions and share some ideas, which is open for members to continue to add to. Charity Registration
Last month the PEAI reached the significant milestone of the approval of our Charity Status registration. A huge thank you to Brendan O’Keeffe, and other past presidents before him Stephen Moore and Garrett Coyle who all kept this tedious process moving along, with Brendan overseeing the recent completion of the registration. Our Registered Charity Number is 20206968. We are consulting with our auditors about the next steps for us to utilise the advantages that this charity status brings for our Association.
PEAI Updates WhatsApp Channel:
The PEAI has created the “PEAI Updates” channel to provide clutter-free simple updates to our members around important PE documents, news of PEAI professional learning support, PEAI conference updates and the release of resources. This clear communication will aim to support and inform PE teachers, especially for those who may not use social media frequently. Follow our channel by clicking on this link, which can be shared across your PE teacher networks.
PEXPO Entries Closing Date: Saturday 14th February
The PEXpo takes place on Thursday 30th April in the Sport Ireland Campus. The PEAI are proud to be long-running sponsors of this annual highlight in the PE calendar that continues to go from strength to strength. The closing date for entering your students’ projects is Saturday 14th February on pexpoireland.com. There are also plenty of activities and challenges to keep a group of students attending as spectators engaged, along with supporting their peers or gaining inspiration for future projects by witnessing the passion and interest of the students who exhibit their projects on the day. PEAI AGM & Conference 2026 booked….Save the Date!
We are already looking forward to welcoming our members to our 2026 AGM and Conference in October in Athlone. On Friday 9th October our AGM and Social Evening will take place in the Athlone Springs Hotel. Then on Saturday 10th October over 200 PE teachers will descend upon the state of the art TUS Athlone Campus to experience over 30 workshops to support the professional learning of our members. Bookings will open in September, but for now save the dates in your calendars and keep an eye across our social media and WhatsApp channel for updates.
