Executive Committee / Call for motions and Michael Darmody Award Nominations 2023

Dear Colleague,

We hope this email finds you well and that the academic year has started positively for everyone! With our AGM and Conference in Carlow on the 6th and 7th of October fast approaching, the PEAI Executive are issuing a call for;

– new Members to the PEAI Executive Committee– motions– nominations for our Michael Darmody Award.

PEAI Executive Committee

The PEAI are seeking nominations for the election of members to it’s Executive Committee. It can be a very rewarding role for those able and willing to take on a new challenge! Nominations must be proposed and seconded by current PEAI members and should be made in writing (via email to; info@peai.org) before 5pm on Friday, the 8th September, 2023.

Motions

Any motions should also be sent via email to; info@peai.org before 5pm on Friday, the 8th September, 2023.

Michael Darmody Award

This award was launched by the PEAI in 2011 to recognise those who have made an outstanding contribution to physical education in Ireland. It is presented annually at our PEAI AGM. The award is named in memory of the late Michael Darmody, who imagined a new future for physical education in Ireland and worked strategically and tirelessly towards its attainment.

To date we have had 11 extremely worthy winners in Ger Murphy (2011), Con Moynihan (2012), Anne Moran (2013), Paddy Reilly (2014), Mary O’Flaherty (2015), PJ Smyth (2016), Pat Critchley (2017), Deborah Tannehill (2018), Donal Dowd (2019), Fiona Clancy (2020) Tony Weir (2021) and Brian O’Reilly (2022).

A brief nomination form is attached here and can be sent to info@peai.orgThe closing date for nominations is Friday, 15th September 2023 at 5pm.
