The Background Paper and Brief for the Review of Senior Cycle Physical Education has been approved for public consultation, with the consultation period running from the 2nd of March until Friday 24th of April.

We encourage our members to engage with this consultation and share your thoughts on the future of Senior Cycle PE. We are in a fortunate position to shape how PE is taught at Senior Cycle based on our experiences since its launch in April 2018, and every piece of feedback is very valuable in this redevelopment process.

The PEAI will hold a webinar after the Easter Holidays on Tuesday 14th April 2026 to guide our members through this Background Paper and Brief to help inform responses to consultation questions in the NCCA’s online survey, which seeks to gather feedback on opportunities and challenges for the redevelopment of SCPE, as well as the supports needed for the redevelopment and implementation of SCPE.
