The Expression of Interest (EOI) process for introducing Leaving Certificate Physical Education (LCPE) as a subject into schools from September 2022 is now open.

If you wish to be considered as part of Phase 4 and introduce LCPE into your school from September 2022 (or LCPE is already in your school but you will be new to teaching LCPE from September 2022) PEAI members should request that their principal complete the Expression of Interest sent to all schools on 14/02/2022.

In order to ensure the successful introduction of this new Leaving Certificate subject in your school, it is strongly recommended that schools introducing the subject have appropriate teacher qualifications, experience, ICT requirements and infrastructure in place to cater for this new Leaving Certificate subject. Please see Circular 0061/2019 for further information and ICT requirements.

LCPE Phase 4 CPD is a two year longitudinal and sustained model of CPD which will be scheduled to commence during the Term 3 of the 2021/22 school year.

It is advised that only teachers beginning to teach LCPE to a 5th year class group from September 2022 should avail of the training at this juncture.

The closing date for completed EOIs is 5pm on Monday, 28th March, 2022.
