Report 2007/2008
Wexford Report 2007/2008 Advocacy Pack dessiminated to all post primary schools and members of the PEAI The Physical Education Association of Irelands (PEAI) Advocacy Pack was launched by Mr. Micheál Martin, TD, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment in University College Cork (UCC) on Saturday October 6th 2007. The Advocacy Pack is a major strategic project of the PEAI which places a range of resources at the disposal of physical education (PE) teachers throughout the country. This will enable PE teachers to promote the subject and highlight the benefits associated with partaking in a Physical Education programme. The resource is being sent to every post primary school in the country. The association hopes that it will help teachers to advocate for physical education in their school
The Advocacy Pack is the culmination of the combined and voluntary effort of a wide representative grouping including undergraduates, practicing teachers, the Department of Education and Science, Secondary School Principal, Institute of Technology Tralee (ITT) and PE teacher training colleges at UCC and University of Limerick (UL). This pack is designed to assist teachers in outlining, for various audiences, the particular and unique contribution of physical education to students long term health and wellbeing. We believe that the DVD will help to place PE teachers in a favourable position when key decisions are being made which may impact on physical education.
