Meeting Preparation Sheets

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) are currently at an advanced stage in the development of two documents at senior cycle in area of physical education namely

• Senior Cycle Physical Education (SCPE) Framework – non-examinable
• Leaving Certificate Physical Education (LCPE) Syllabus - examinable

The SCPE and LCPE have been refined and redrafted over a period of almost two years through a process of deliberation of course committee and Board of Studies level, and now are being put forward by the NCCA for broader consultation by the profession. The first document for consultation will be the non-examinable SCPE Framework only.

As part of this consultation, the PEAI hosted a number of regional meetings and provided a conduit through which practicing teachers can contribute to the process.

This is a unique opportunity for you to respond to and further inform the experience of students in Senior Cycle Physical Education into the future. I suggest that download the framework document prior to the meeting as having pre-read the document will enable an informed discussion and considered feedback on the nights.
